Can You Do Childcare First Aid Courses Online?

The First Aid Coach HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting course includes online study. You complete the skills test in person.

This matters because first aid is a hands-on skill. Learners must show practical skills, including CPR, AED use, choking response, asthma response, and anaphylaxis response.

Learners may also need to show how they would respond if someone is having trouble breathing. They may need to show how to contact emergency services and give clear incident details. This helps learners practise the emergency services techniques used in a real first aid emergency.

Before you choose a course, check the RTO, unit codes, skills tasks, and what the course includes. Make sure the course includes CPR, asthma, and anaphylaxis.

Course Fees

The First Aid Coach Childcare First Aid course fees are $130 per person.

This includes:

  • Online study
  • In-person skills class
  • CPR
  • Basic emergency life support
  • Asthma and anaphylaxis care
  • First aid response training
  • Skills test
  • Nationally recognised statements once you pass

Childcare centres, schools, and workplaces can ask about group course fees.

Common Booking Mistakes

Do not book HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation if your employer asked for HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting. CPR-only training will not usually meet a childcare first aid need.

Do not assume “online study” means the course is fully online. You complete the skills test in person.

Do not rely on the old HLTAID004 code. HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting is the current childcare first aid unit.

Do not wait until the week your certificate expires. This matters even more if your centre must train several staff.

Do not book based only on the course title. Check the unit code.
